This is What Happens When You Drink Coconut Water

In recent years, more and more people have come to rely on coconut water for its remarkable nutrients and health benefits. Many professional athletes choose this beverage to enhance their performance. It is also a great way to rehydrate after any activity.

Coconut water has a myriad of health benefits. For one, it is high in electrolytes and contains less sugar than sports drinks.

Health Benefits

Coconut water can facilitate weight loss and proper digestion. It purges toxins and excess water from the body and has only about 45 calories per glass.

Drinking it regularly can help you feel full longer and resist the urge to snack. Studies also show that it can help fight migraines, hangovers and headaches. This is due to its hydrating properties. Symptoms of dehydration are sluggishness, stiff knees and joints, and feeling thirsty.

Additionally, it can support your kidneys function and urinary system. It may prevent kidney stone formation.

Studies also show that drinking coconut water regularly could help lower blood pressure, as it counteracts the effect of sodium in the body.

It also decreases cholesterol by moderating triglycerides. Researchers believe this is due to the level of electrolytes. It also aids proper metabolism and can help relieve diarrhoea.

Additionally, it may help against diabetes. According to several studies, it was shown to lower blood sugar levels in people with type two diabetes.

For pregnant women, it is an excellent refreshing drink due to its nutrient content. It helps to prevent constipation, relieve heartburn, and prevent urinary tract infection. It could also help prevent leg cramps, as it maintains the right levels of electrolytes in your body.

Vital Nutrients

Coconut water contains Vitamin C, which is an important antioxidant that helps to support a healthy immune system. Vitamin C also helps repair tissues after injury.

You’ll also find calcium and magnesium in coconut water. These two nutrients are responsible for muscle relaxation, particularly when you’re experiencing muscle tension and high levels of stress.

Calcium helps to maintain healthy bones and teeth. Magnesium supports the formation serotonin, a feel-good hormone.

This drink is also rich in potassium, which is essential for the proper functioning of all muscles, tissues, and organs within the body. Potassium also helps balance fluid within the body and maintain a healthy blood pH.

Be sure not to confuse coconut water with coconut milk.

Coconut milk is the extract from the coconut flesh. It is denser with more calories. Furthermore, coconut milk is approximately 550 calories per cup. It is still very healthy and is rich in unsaturated fats, though. Coconut milk is an excellent substitute for dairy. It is thicker and sweeter than coconut water.

Before adding it into your diet, be sure to take the proper precautions. It may be best to consult your doctor.

If you have kidney or renal issues, be cautious about your daily consumption of this drink. Also, if you are allergic to nuts, coconut water may not be suitable for you.

If you’re healthy and have no conditions to worry about, grab a glass of coconut water regularly. If you want to take your consumption of coconut products to the next level, you could also consider adding coconut oil into your daily routine.
